Island Fever Update

please excuse my absence. This time I'm blaming it on the Olympics. Yes, shame on you Olympic games, distracting me from everything else I should be doing. Actually, I just realized yesterday evening that this may be the last Olympics that I get to cheer on childhood friends and acquaintances. We're getting that old. So hooray Lake Placid natives, I just love watching you!!!

My update is news that we had news, but no longer have news. Which is good news, really. We spent last week living with the "news" that Mark was displaced to Hawaii. Hawaii. Kona, Hawaii for any island buffs out there. After our shared initial reaction of "I guess we're finally going to break up with Mesa Airlines now," I hung in there long enough to start adjusting to the idea. I began to get attached to the pictures in my head. The ones where we walk straight out of our home onto something green, instead of out to our concrete staircase, down to our concrete walkway, and onto more concrete. I really like the part of my picture where Mark is home every night. Small things. Or, if let myself be honest, big things. I went as far as buying Jude a Hawaiian shirt (a must for all local Hawaiian children I'm sure :) ) and listening to Hawaiian music. The one thing I couldn't think about was living so terribly far away from all of you. Which is why, when news came that Mesa had, yet again, just played with our lives for the fun of it and is keeping Mark is Chicago, I felt my heart start to beat again. Yet another event that made me reflect on how much each of you means to us. I hear Hawaii is a nice place to visit, so maybe we will do just that.

Oh, and yes, I said that I bought Jude a shirt. Had our "news" lasted a couple more days, he might have also received shorts.

hahaha...that picture collage was great!!! And the music actually made me want to come visit you in Hawaii. Alas, I will have to content myself with living vicariously through pictures of your potential visit there.

The thought of you in Hawaii was very fretful for us.....however, I can't say that I didn't picture all of us in grass skirts with some fru fru drink...I did escape with Jude to an island somewhere with his fabulous outfits and music. I think I am going to go have a virgin pina colada! Love to you!
