Ode to the Volvo

Goodbye sweet Volvo.  It's been a good run.  18 years that you've literally carried me through, living everywhere I've called home, always displaying mountains on your license plate.  Debby rode as a toddler in the built-in carseat.  I took my driver's test in you, and nailed the curb.  I let my friends drive you too fast (sorry mom and dad).  You took me to prom, to Plattsburgh, to Vermont.  You brought Jonelle and me across the country; we lived out of you for over a month.  You made the trek to Colorado, dutifully following the U-Haul which was towing the Ford.  And 11 months ago today, you brought Grandma Claire to the hospital for the birth of Baby Jude.
It may be silly to miss a car, but I'll miss you.  Thanks for the ride.

Two things: built-in CAR SEAT???! Is that safe?

And...I'm sorry, I didn't even know you had another car. Especially such a nostalgic one :)

It is so hard to say goodbye to an old friend! Cars are such strong "vehicles" (no pun intended) for memories! I cried and kissed my mom and dad's old orange volkswagon when we traded it in....I know how you feel and appreciate the tribute!

Bye volvo! You've been good to me.
I loved that booster seat. For some reason I remember biting my toenails while sitting in that seat while I was little. Kind of gross, but it's still a memory.

Ahh... yes, she did handle quite well over a hundred. And, just to jog your memory, I think state police records would show it wasn't just your "friends" who drove a bit too fast... haha :)
