For any of you looking for an update on my epi-pen wielding status: it's here to stay. Unfortunately, Jude's allergy test today confirmed a "moderate to severe" peanut allergy. and two other nuts as well: cashews and Fifel; but we'll climb that hill another day. The allergist pointed out optimistically that 20% of children grow out of peanut allergies. He was then quick to add that Jude won't be in that 20%, his is too severe. Guess I'll just be happy for the others? As I was coming to grips with the fact that there is something in the world that can kill my child with one slip, and that that something is everywhere, I thought of Natalie. I'll take a peanut allergy.
I consider this my first step in becoming the advocating/educating parent I was never cut out to be. Instructions: Jude will arrive in your presence with an epi-pen, benadryl and strict orders about no Chinese food. I'm not actually sure about the Chinese food. I'll figure that out. I have a lot to figure out...

Charlie Brown would not be happy with this news!!
And label him "No Nuts,ALLERGIC!" Front and back.
Boo. --And saying with such certainty that he'll not outgrow his allergy sounds just like the type of thing a doctor would say and then in a little while Jude will become a living contradiction to.
Sorry to hear about this, Amanda. I'm sure he'll turn into a great little advocate, himself, too.
