The good news: Mark was home for Thanksgiving this year! The bad news: It was because he had the stomach bug. Like any good airline family (I don't actually know this, just betting it's true) we celebrate holidays on off-days. And lie to our two-year old about it. Actual Thanksgiving day was "Parade Day" around here as I wanted to introduce Jude to the Macy's Day variety. He promptly turned the TV off and said, "Want to go somewhere." But everything is closed on Parade Day, little buddy.
It seemed Mark was feeling well enough to bump our Thanksgiving day earlier to Friday instead of today, Saturday. He realized two bites into the meal that he wasn't actually up for the challenge. Jude, our usually robust eater who had been talking about turkey all week, picked at some stuffing then asked to be excused from the table. As soon as he got down he announced, "Gonna go look for some snack, Mama." Leaving this pregnant woman with way more food than she had a problem with.
We did have some highlights including sharing what we were thankful for. Jude's standing response, "Just Halloween." However, he loves sharing at length when being put down to bed (a lovely habit) and listed off every single one of you in his "thankful for" list. We did a little craft making turkey hats. This crafting is a major stretch for me, but I'm working on it and have allowed glue sticks and toddler scissors into my home. Not that Jude's enthusiastic use of these actually contributed to the final project :)
We also played a pin-the-hat in the turkey game, which was more amusing than I thought it might be. All in all, it was a good day. So, Happy Thanksgiving!
Love,
The family that has been, and will always be, a couple days off on pretty much everything.
