what would be more fun than to use my lunchbreak to blog about my cat? nada. For those who don't know, I was not a cat person before Fifel. Not at all. But after Mark's pleading, or really negotiating, we brought home the homeliest creature you've ever seen. and he became the center of my world. Though this current picture is unrelated to the update I am about to give, I like it so it stays. I'm not sure how he did this plant-entrapment to himself, but he was quite content to sit there for awhile like that. But onto the real development in his life: Fifel had his first playdate last week. Our upstairs neighbors have a tiny little cat, I really don't get how she is full-grown, named "Brie." We took Fifel up for a meet-and-greet. Fife immediately started running (not happily running, but running for his life) with this 2-lb cat bounding after him. Upon going as far as he could, ending in the back corner of their bedroom closet, he proceeded to hiss whenever she came near. It was quite unattractive. We eventually removed him from the closest and put him on top of the kitchen cabinets, the only place where he is truly content. He was there for another hour. Then this week Brie came over for a playdate in our condo. As I sadly missed it, this is the update from Mark: At first Fifel ran away, letting himself into the bedroom after Mark had closed the door, but eventually came to recognize Brie as a fellow, and potentially interesting, member of the feline community. Fifel started to allow her in his personal space and they even played a little bit! It seems that his favorite part of her presence, however, was "talking" with her. So that's our bulletin, our cat's not entirely socially inept! We are so proud.
Once upon a time there was a family of five: Mark, Amanda, Jude, Luke and Victor. They were really just wingin' it...
